Cycling in Fife - holidays in the picturesque Fife countryside

One of the finest ways to see Scotland is on two wheels. And with the development of the Kingdom of Fife Cycle Ways – a network of over 300 miles of dedicated Fife cycle routes along quiet country lanes, disused railway lines and forest tracks, Elderburn Luxury Lodges is the perfect base for cycling holidays in Scotland. So if you fancy a holiday cycling in Fife then read on.

Explore the Fife Coastal Path

The Kingdom of Fife has many attractions that are guaranteed to delight. However, by far one of the must-see attractions is that of the Fife Coastal Path. Officially formed in 2002, the 177-mile-long path spans the distance of the coastline from North Queensferry to Tayport. The path meanders through many of Fife’s key historical sites and offers walkers technical challenges of varying difficulties. Enjoy discoveries of dolphins, puffins and seals as you explore this historical path. And visit many of the charming seaside villages and towns that give the Fife community its personality.

More Fife cycle routes

There really is something for cyclists of all abilities. From the relatively flat 8-mile West Fife Way, which is suitable for both adults and children. To the 103-mile Kingdom Route, a circular trail that runs between the Forth and Tay road bridges. The latter actually runs through St Andrews making it totally accessible for Elderburn guests! If you choose to take up this particular challenge, you will also find yourself riding through old mining towns, the Cleish Hills, and Tentsmuir Nature Reserve. Experiencing a mixture of on and off-road cycling along the way.

And there is more

The Ports of Tay is a 29-mile route that is very popular with families. This route takes in some beautiful coastal towns. Allowing you to take in some additional Fife attractions along the way, and also explore Tentsmuir Forest with a number of off-road routes. If mountain biking is your preference then a great option is the Fife Forest Circle. A 52-mile mixed road and forest route between Inverkeithing, Devilla Forest and Blair Adam Forest. Another adventure we would recommend is the Fife to Angus Cycle Route. This takes you a little further and has the added benefit of stunning views of the east coast of Scotland. At 65 miles it’s perhaps a little tough for families with young children. But you will find yourself in lovely seaside towns like Broughty Ferry and Carnoustie, so take time to enjoy the views.

Testimonials

Just returned from a fantastic relaxing break at lodge 1 at Elderburn Lodges.
The lodge really is a home from home and the setup of the lodge is great for 2 couples having the lovely spacious shared central areas but the bedrooms are spaced well apart.
The lodge was spotless and well equipped and some of the little extras within the lodge were excellent.
The location is ideal for visiting St Andrews and the lovely Fife coast.
The visitors book within the lodge was full of reviews from returning customers and we would highly recommend these lodges and look forward to our next visit.
