Beaches in Fife

Fife has over 100 miles of spectacular coast and beautiful beaches, which are great to visit during your stay at Elderburn Lodges. From the wide sandy beaches of St Andrews, to the picturesque bays along the east coast. So get the buckets and spades out and head on over to the beach, lay back and forget about the usual stresses of life.

St Andrews Beaches

The largest and best known of St Andrews’ beaches is West Sands, famous for the opening scenes of Chariots of Fife, situated at the edge of town and a stone’s throw from the world-famous Old Course. There are brand new Beach Wheelchairs (free to rent) so all the family can get out and make the most of the beach. Blown Away outdoor activities are becoming a firm favourite with guests who are looking to get the adrenaline going! Hen parties, families and competitive couples have all reported back with rave reviews.

On the south side of the old harbour in St Andrews the East Sands is a favourite with surfers, fishing enthusiasts and keep photographers. There is a small kids’ play area, toilet facilities and first aid facilities. It’s often quieter than big sister West Sands but can be more sheltered.

Within St Andrews town centre, there is also Castle Sands. This is a small beach by St Andrews Castle, which is great for relaxing and enjoying the castle views and exploring rock pools.

Best Fife beaches

Further along the coast, you’ll find a wide choice of beautiful beaches. Kingsbarns, Aberdour Silver Sands, Tentsmuir and Elie are just some of our favourites. From small rocky bays to soft sandy shores, the Fife coastline is a magnificent place to explore. The Fife Coastal Path runs along the coast, connecting the picturesque fishing villages and passing by many wonderful beaches. This is a great route for walking and enjoying the gorgeous scenery.
