Aberdour Silversands Beach, Fife

One of the best beaches in Fife is also one of the lesser now stretches of sand. Whilst many are drawn to the annual funfair at Burntisland or the history of St. Andrews beach, Aberdour Silversands is quietly confident in itself! And that is because of its long stretch of golden sand that offers family fun and clean water for some glorious wild swimming. Less than an hours drive from Elderburn Lodges near St. Andrews, this is a trip that is worth it.

Family friendly fun

The whole family are warmly welcomed at Aberdour – including the dog, although there are some dog-restricted areas available. There’s a carpark only a short walk away, and accessible parking spaces are available closer to the beach. For anyone arriving by train, it’s just a short 10-minute walk from platform to sand.

This is a clean, safe Fife beach. It has held a Keep Scotland Beautiful Beach Award for thirty years, and has also been given the VisitScotland 4 Star Quality Assurance Award. For added safety, summer months see lifeguards on the beach to help protect swimmers. Additionally, there are seasonally-opened toilets (which are also award winners!). There’s plenty of sand for everyone and at low tide there’s also plenty of opportunity for rockpooling!

Testimonials

We stayed in lodge 4 which was by far the best holiday accommodation we have ever stayed in, immaculate, spacious, so well equipped. The books, DVDs and board games were an extra touch and came in handy for some family time after exploring during the day. The surrounding area is beautiful and so many things to see and do nearby. West Sands beach is clean and beautiful and Bishop’s Wood and Craigtoun Country Park about a mile away are both worth a look. There are so many things we didn’t get chance to explore so I think we will be back. I think we will struggle to find any other accomodation as nice as this. Many thanks to Anne and the team.
