Visiting Fife Zoo near Cupar

Fife Zoo is around 13 miles west of Elderburn Lodges. It takes around 25 minutes to drive there and makes for a great family day out during your stay with us. The small zoo is open 7 days a week, both in the summer and winter season, closing only over Christmas and New Year. It has at least 15 species of animals and offers animal keeper talks throughout the day. There is also a cafe, bistro, gift shop and outdoor playground.

Animals at Fife Zoo

Conservation and education

As well as being a wonderful visitor attraction, Fife Zoo is also a site for conservation and education. The zoo is home to a number of endangered species. It takes part in breeding programmes and supports several conservation organisations. It also looks after our local Scottish wildlife, encouraging insects and wildflowers around the zoo. In addition, the zoo welcomes educational group visits, such as school trips. It can cover a range of topics and study areas to teach and inspire all ages.

We stayed in lodge 4 which was by far the best holiday accommodation we have ever stayed in, immaculate, spacious, so well equipped. The books, DVDs and board games were an extra touch and came in handy for some family time after exploring during the day. The surrounding area is beautiful and so many things to see and do nearby. West Sands beach is clean and beautiful and Bishop’s Wood and Craigtoun Country Park about a mile away are both worth a look. There are so many things we didn’t get chance to explore so I think we will be back. I think we will struggle to find any other accomodation as nice as this. Many thanks to Anne and the team.
