Golf has been played on the site of Kingsbarns Golf Links since 1793. However, the current course opened in the year 2000.
This award-winning links course on the east coast of Scotland, just south of St Andrews in Fife, is consistently ranked as one of Scotland’s finest and appears on the list of top 100 courses in the world. For our guests staying at Elderburn Lodges, Kingsbarns is just a 20-minute drive away.
Book NowKingsbarns has a long history of golf, stretching back to 1793. In 1850, the original 9-hole course closed and was turned into farmland. Then in 1922, the newly formed Kingsbarns Golf Club established a new 9-hole course. Again, this closed, as the land was taken in the national security defence effort for World War II. Finally, in 2000, a new 18-hole course opened on the site.
Architect Kyle Philips designed the new course, which has gone on to receive many awards and accolades. It hosts the annual Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, alongside two other courses; St Andrews Links and Carnoustie. The club does not offer memberships, but visitors are most welcome.

Find Out MoreWe stayed in lodge 4 which was by far the best holiday accommodation we have ever stayed in, immaculate, spacious, so well equipped. The books, DVDs and board games were an extra touch and came in handy for some family time after exploring during the day. The surrounding area is beautiful and so many things to see and do nearby. West Sands beach is clean and beautiful and Bishop’s Wood and Craigtoun Country Park about a mile away are both worth a look. There are so many things we didn’t get chance to explore so I think we will be back. I think we will struggle to find any other accomodation as nice as this. Many thanks to Anne and the team.
