What’s Up With Spring in St Andrews?

Winter’s finally been and gone, and we’ve entered that gorgeous part of the year that melds the cold with sunshine and dazzling blue skies. St Andrews, not three miles from our Luxury Lodges, is no exception, the scenic and historic town is a buzzing hub of activity now that we’ve sprung into Spring with a host of festivals and events, guaranteed to tantalize and entertain. Poetry In Motion

Kicking things off in March, the StAnza Poetry Festival boasts the honour of being the only recurring festival dedicates to poetry in Scotland. The Festival is running between the 2nd and the 6th of March, so you’d better not delay if you want to take the time to kick back, relax and learn a little about poetry.

The 19th Annual StAnza Festival to take place, each one focuses on two distinct themes to be certain that each Festival is unique – this year’s themes are ‘City Lines’ and ‘Body of Poetry’. Tickets are on sale now, and the event itself takes place in the stunning Byre Theatre on Abbey Street. With breakfast and late night events at the Poetry Café, there’s a little something for everyone.

On The Rocks

If you’re still after something artistic, then the On The Rocks Student Arts Festival might just be the treat for you this Spring! As the name suggests, the entire festival is student-run and allows anyone that applies the chance to showcase their talents: be that in photography, film or otherwise.

This year’s event will take place between the 1st and the 10th of April, with individual tickets available for the different shows on offer. This year’s festival includes a dramatic version of the play ‘Doctor Faustus’ that’s been set up within the St Andrews Promenade, meaning that the audience will be physically following the actors on foot from scene to scene!
