The V&A Museum Dundee

The V&A Museum Dundee opened in September 2018 and sits proudly on Dundee waterfront. It took three and a half years to complete this amazing building. Japanese architect Kengo Kuma based the design on the dramatic cliffs along the East Coast of Scotland. This is an exciting new Scottish landmark in Tay Country, just a 25-minute drive from us at Elderburn Lodges. We definitely recommend a visit!

A Design museum for Scotland

The V&A, or Victoria and Albert Museum, began in 1899, when Queen Victoria laid the first stone of the famous design museum in London. It holds a huge collection of design work in all mediums, spanning thousands of years. And now, the V&A Dundee, tells the story of Scotland’s design heritage. As it brings some of the V&A’s wonderful exhibitions and collections to Scotland.

Visit the V&A Museum Dundee

You can enter this brilliant design museum in Scotland for free. You can’t miss it on Dundee waterfront, open daily from 10 am to 5 pm. Here, you can view the Scottish Design Galleries, which feature 300 exhibits from the V&A’s Scottish design collections, as well as from other museums and private collections. At the centre, you’ll find the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Oak Room, a room which the renowned Scots artist designed, and experts have meticulously reconstructed. There is also a fantastic exhibitions programme, so there will always be something new and exciting to see at the V&A Museum Dundee. Find out more on the museum website.

Just returned from a fantastic relaxing break at lodge 1 at Elderburn Lodges.
The lodge really is a home from home and the setup of the lodge is great for 2 couples having the lovely spacious shared central areas but the bedrooms are spaced well apart.
The lodge was spotless and well equipped and some of the little extras within the lodge were excellent.
The location is ideal for visiting St Andrews and the lovely Fife coast.
The visitors book within the lodge was full of reviews from returning customers and we would highly recommend these lodges and look forward to our next visit.
