The Kingdom of Fife
We are located in the Kingdom of Fife, so called because it was an ancient Pictish kingdom hundreds of years ago. Right on the doorstep of the stunning Fife Coastal Path, which spans 117 miles from the Firth of Forth in the south, to the Firth of Tay in the north. You can take in the breathtaking views by choosing one of the many walks here, with something for all abilities. We are just a 10-minute drive from the beautiful town of St Andrews, known as the home of golf. Here, you can visit the British Golf Museum, play a round on the famous Old Course. Or, explore the Cathedral and Castle ruins, take a stroll along West Sands Beach and enjoy the stunning Botanic Garden. There are many lovely Scottish towns and villages in Fife, including North Queensferry, Aberdour, Leven, Elie, Anstruther, Crail and Pittenweem. It’s a truly beautiful part of the world to discover.
Perthshire
To the northwest of Fife, you’ll find Perthshire, home to the city of Perth and many other wonderful places to visit in Scotland. Perth became a Royal Burgh in the 12th century and was the capital of Scotland until 1437. Today you can visit Scone Palace, where the Kings of Scots, including Macbeth and Robert The Bruce, were crowned. This is a beautifully preserved building, with rich interiors and well-kept gardens, so it’s a fantastic window into Scotland’s past. While in Perth, you can also see historic Scottish tourist attractions the Black Watch Castle and Museum, the Kirk of St John the Baptist and Elcho Castle and many more.
Perthshire highlights include Kinross, Crieff, and moving further north towards Highland Perthshire, there’s Aberfeldy, Dunkeld, Pitlochry and Blair Athol. This is an amazing region with lots to do and see.
Dundee and Angus
North of Fife, over the Tay Bridge, you’ll come to Dundee and Angus. Of course, no visit to this area is complete without spending some time in Dundee, the city of discovery! Here, you can soak up some culture at Dundee’s fantastic collection of museums, including the V&A. This is a spectacular design museum and the first of its kind in Scotland. You can climb aboard the RRS Discovery, the ship that took explorers Scott and Shackleton on their first successful trip to the Antarctic. Not forgetting, Verdant Works industrial museum, Dundee Museum of Transport and the McManus Art Gallery and museum.
In the surrounding area of Angus, you can visit Arbroath, Brechin, Carnoustie, Forfar, Kirriemuir, Monifieth and Montrose. There’s so much to discover in this wonderful region.
